School of Aviation was established in September 1993 through a collaborative effort between Beihang University and China Southern Airlines Company Limited. Guided by Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era, School of Aviation steadfastly implements the educational policies of the Party and the state, prioritizes moral education and talent cultivation, integrates "Five-Education" synergies, and fulfills "Three-Full Education" requirements. Leveraging the university's existing resources and industry-university collaboration advantages, School of Aviation harnesses the collective strengths of aerospace disciplines, highlights "Aerospace-Information" integration, and focuses on Transportation Engineering and Aerospace Science & Technology as core disciplines. School of Aviation aims to cultivate scholar-type pilots, expert-type managers, and innovative leaders, offering three undergraduate programs: Flight Technology, Transportation (Civil Aviation Maintenance Engineering), and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems Engineering.
The School of Aviation follows a “2 + 1.5 + 0.5” training model, whichincludes two years of on-campus theoretical study at Beihang University, following 1.5 years of flight training at international partner academies, and six months of graduation project work at Beihang University upon completion of flight training.
Aiming to build a top-tier school supporting "Civil Aviation Power", School of Aviation prioritizes faculty excellence,with 100% PhD-qualified faculty. It has received a National Teaching Achievement Award (First Prize) and a Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award (First Prize).School of Aviation has secured multiple academic projects including Central Higher Education Reform Special Project, Ministry of Science and Technology Foreign Talent Program, and Beijing High-Precision Discipline Project. Additionally, School of Aviation focuses on cutting-edge technologies such as intelligent connected unmanned systems and civil aviation safety. It undertakes research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), and national defense research programs.It has received multiple provincial-level and national-level awards for scientific and technology achievement.
